The Vanishing Sculptor

On the bookshelf for the CSFF this month is The Vanishing Sculptor by Donita K. Paul. It belongs to the same world as her DragonKeepers series but is not truly connected so it is a great place for new readers to start. If you're able to dive into a fantasy story and pick up the background story as you move along, you should have no problems with this book. Mrs. Paul has been publishing for a while now and knows how to tell a good tale so those reading in the Christian fantasy genre will enjoy this.

How true! My nine year old hasn't yet been introduced to the other books Donita has written, but she's enjoying this one very much!

The state of Christian fiction is getting better and better. IMHO the fantasy genre is leading the way.

Oh, I agree with you, Jeff. I think of the Christian fiction I read when my kids were little (they are in their 30s now), and I cringe. I believe our testimony to non-believers includes how well we meet and surpass standards in the literary field. Conversely, that's one of the things that paralyzes me when I sit down to write. I have to turn everything over to God. I know on my own I would very easily produce a mediocre manuscript. Isn't it great to have God pulling for us, encouraging us, and even pushing us when we want to be lazy.
Krysti, your daughter must be a good reader. She's in third grade, right? Have her contact me through my webpage when she is done. I'd like to hear what she thinks of the book.

I think this Vanishing Scultor book does something very welcome--it keeps an upbeat mood most of the time. I really enjoyed reading it.

My kids and I loved reading the DragonKeeper books together. They're getting older now and have been too busy to read this one with me, but I had fun reading it by myself anyway! :)
