Bought a Mac laptop computer today.
Some of you may immediately understand the painful step I have taken. Some may not. It is very hard for dedicated PC users to cross over and get a Mac but I have the perfect excuse: It's my wife's internet surfing computer. So I really don't have much to do with it other than driving across town and handing somebody 180 bucks. My wife found it advertised on craigslist and thought it looked cute so a few hours later there I was, in someone's living room, listening to his son tell me about the Mac's features and how they are better than any PC he's ever used. The funny part came when, after asking a slew of questions about how a Mac operates, I mentioned that I had always had some kind of Windows based PC. I pointed at his son, who had dark, shaggy hair and said, "I mean look at us right here; we're just like the commercials. I'm a PC and he's a Mac."
However, like I said, it's my wife who will be using it. While there a plenty of new things to learn and unlearn I assured her that there's a whole world wide web of support groups that can guide her through the tricky parts, all while discussing socialized medicine and growing hemp. So I don't really feel like I've sullied myself.

Hey, now. We Mac users are normal folk. Sorta. I mean, we eat and breathe and stuff like normal folk.
Well, I do have occasionally unkempt hair, and I do like Berkinstocks, but I also like meat with my veggies.
Anyhoo, as the saying goes...
I've put "S. Rex" on my list of the top 5 blogs that either make my day or make me think -- or make me laugh.
I bought a MacBook myself a few weeks ago, but this one is for me so I don't have to mess with Vista. I'm pretty happy with it so far, though it does take some getting used to after years of PCs. Still, I was going to have to learn a new OS anyway so it may as well be this one.
Gotta say, though, I paid more than $180 for mine. And who wouldn't rather identify with the 30ish cool dude than the bald guy with glasses and a suit? I mean...really.
Hi, I am Keanan Brand's little brother.
I have been seriously considering making the switch to Mac. I am adamant about not getting Vista. I am just not sure if I am willing to cough up the dough for a Mac that will not play games as well as my PC.
What's wrong with Vista? Works fine for me.
Gee, just mention a Mac vs. PC situation and you get more responses than if I'd come out in favor of clubbing baby seals.
Vista has worked fine for me and I've had zero problems. Of course, I just write. I don't do video or photo editing or run more than a couple of applications at a time.
