Not everyone has that special something deep down inside them that makes them respond properly to children in distress. Thank God one Marine did. When faced with a decision to make the ultimate sacrifice for complete strangers, MSgt Michael Wert did exactly that.
Semper Fi, Marine.

Here's another thought on this post that I'll leave in the comments. I'm reminded of a song we Marines sing while marching or running:
(in cadence)
He comes from Parris Island
The land that time forgot
Where the sand is eighteen inches deep
And the sun is blazin' hot
When he sees the Pearly Gates
To Saint Peter he will tell
"Another Marine reporting, sir
I've served my time in Hell"
